Non-Bio: Squirm
Following from the success of Island In A Lake of Spinal Fluid in 2022, there had been plans for some time to make a follow-up video for another Non-Bio song, which would further push the limits of my 3D abilities. With the new album Every Chalice Poisoned in production in 2024 I was challenged to make a new video for the forthcoming song Squirm, for release in August of that year.
Several new character meshes were created for this project, with the main inspirations for their design being the creatures in Clive Barker's Nightbreed and Hellraiser. While character animation is not my main area of expertise, I was able to get around that for the purposes of this project by auto-rigging the completed model's using Adobe Mixamo to make them dance and assume naturalistic poses for various shots in the video.

The base meshes for these characters were generated from Daz Studio, then extensiely resculpted and re-textured using Zbrush. They were then auto-rigged and imported into Maya, where the scenes were constructed, lit and then rendered out. The final compositing, grade and editing was done with After Effects.

The 'house' environment was created within Maya with textures collected from photographic sources and UV-mapped onto the models using Photoshop. A few bits of the furniture were ready-mades obtained through Turbosquid, but the majority of the environment was my own work.
